Gianluca Di Marzio has  that Lazio want to sign Ruben Loftus-Cheek from Chelsea in the summer transfer window. Maurizio Sarri has been appointed as the new manager of Lazio, and the former Chelsea manager has asked the Italian club to get him the midfielder.

Sarri worked with Loftus-Cheek when he was the manager of Chelsea during the 2018-19 season. During , the midfielder made six starts and 18 substitute appearances in the Premier League, scoring six goals and providing two assists in the process. The 25-year-old also made eight starts and three substitute appearances in the Europa League that season, scoring four goals and giving three assists in the process.

Loftus-Cheek spent the 2020-21 season on loan at Fulham from Chelsea. The 25-year-old middle made 21 starts…

Everton loanee Zouma not giving up on Chelsea career

Kurt Zouma is confident his Chelsea career is not over despite being sent on another season-long loan to Everton.

The French defender, 23, signed for Chelsea in 2014 and had established himself as a regular in their team before suffering a serious knee injury in 2016.

He made just three Premier League starts in the following campaign and spent all of last season on loan with Stoke City before agreeing to join Everton for this term.

Zouma only signed a new six-year deal with his parent club in 2017 and is determined to force his way back into the Chelsea first team when he returns to Stamford Bridge.

I will go back, yes, he told reporters.

I have always believed in myself since I started playing football at 16. I have always wanted to show m…

England 2-0 Germany: Kane off the mark as Sterling strikes again

England claimed their place in the quarter-finals of Euro 2020 as they beat rivals Germany 2-0 at Wembley Stadium.

Raheem Sterling grabbed his third goal of the tournament to put the Three Lions ahead from a well-worked move in the second half before Harry Kane opened his account with a late header.

Gareth Southgate s side will now face either Sweden or Ukraine in Rome as they look to match 2018 s run to the World Cup semi-finals.

Germany seemed to take a partisan atmosphere at Wembley in their stride early on, making a strong start that was exemplified by Declan Rice receiving a booking for a cynical but entirely necessary challenge on a breaking Leon Goretzka.

Wow. Wow. Wow. is there to double the lead and the quarter-finals are in touching dist…

Kolasinac wanted in Italy

Napoli and AS Roma are both interested in Sead Kolasinac of Arsenal, according to Sky Sports.

The Bosnia and Herzegovina international arrived to the Emirates as a free agent from Schalke 04 in 2017. He competed for the left-back spot with Nacho Monreal for two years, and just as the Spaniard left this summer, the club acquired the services of Kieran Tierney from Celtic. Kolasinac has so far played 88 games and scored five goals for the Gunners.

Napoli, currently under the command of former AC Milan player and head coach Gennaro Gattuso, are keen to get the 26-year-old to Naples in January, which is probably an idea Arsenal won t be prepared to consider given Tierney s injury record (though Kolasinac s is also far from ideal). Roma, on the other hand, are already planni…

Bitesize Prediction: San Jose Earthquakes vs Portland Timbers – 20/06/24

Market: Portland Timbers double chance

Odds: 19/20 @

Looking to drag themselves into the play-off places, Portland will travel to PayPal Park in the early hours of Thursday when they meet San Jose.

Starting with the hosts, last seen over the weekend putting in another nightmare performance as they eventually fell to a 4-2 defeat at home against Cincinnati, San Jose find themselves at the heart of an MLS crisis. Sat rock-bottom of the Western Conference table and coming under a huge amount of scrutiny since opening up the 2024 campaign, the Goonies have also broken a string of unwanted records. Crashing out of the US Open Cup on May 22nd following an infamous 4-3 loss at the hands of USL outfit Sacramento Republic, Luchi Gonzalez’s men have also collected just …

Steve Cooper hails Nottingham Forest’s ‘upward trajectory’ despite stalemate

Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper believes his side are heading in the right direction despite their trip to Crystal Palace ending in a “disappointing” goalless draw.

Cooper’s men had their chances at Selhurst Park, where Morgan Gibbs-White saw a shot come back off a post and a sprightly Murillo was denied more than once by Eagles goalkeeper Sam Johnstone.

In the end, it was a closer result than some had perhaps expected from a Palace squad that, already mired in an injury crisis, saw both Jeffrey Schlupp and Jairo Riedewald forced off either side of half-time.

No way through in South London, but another point on the board.

Thank you for your incredible support at Selhurst Park tonight

Will Steve McClaren be successful at Newcastle?

Steve McClaren has been appointed as the new Newcastle head coach

Newcastle have appointed Steve McClaren as their new head coach on a three-year-deal. The 54-year-old has also been given a place on the clubs board of directors, which is a rather strange move for an English club.

Good, Bad and Ugly

McLaren has major managerial experience, having seen the good, the bad and the ugly that football has to offer in his career so far.

It would probably be fair to say that he has had mixed fortunes in his career so far.

McClaren has enjoyed success in the north east before during a five year stint at Middlesbrough.

Boro won the league cup and enjoyed European football for the first time in their history. McClaren guided Boro to the 2006 UEFA Cup…

Salah and Son more deserving of Player of the Season award than De Bruyne, says Thompson

Mohamed Salah and Son Heung-min were more deserving winners of the Premier League Player of the Season award than Kevin De Bruyne.

That is according to Liverpool legend Phil Thompson, who also told Stats Perform that Erling Haaland will not necessarily make Manchester City a stronger side next season.

City playmaker De Bruyne last week edged out Son, Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joao Cancelo, Jarrod Bowen, Bukayo Saka and James Ward-Prowse for the award.

The Belgium international played a key part in City s successful title defence with 15 goals in 30 league appearances and a further eight assists.

Remarkably, the 30-year-old s 15 goals came from an expected goals (xG) return of just 6.2, meaning he scored nine goals more than expected from the quality …

Wiegman ´won´t push´ Mead as injured England superstar targets World Cup return

Sarina Wiegman is not making any early call on Beth Mead s involvement in this year s Women s World Cup.

Mead won the Player of the Tournament award and the Golden Boot as England celebrated an historic triumph at their home Women s Euro 2022.

The Arsenal striker also finished in second place in last year s Ballon d Or Feminin voting and would have a key role to play for Wiegman s Lionesses in Australia and New Zealand in July.

But Mead s status ahead of the finals is uncertain as she continues her recovery from an ACL tear in November.

As Wiegman named her latest England squad on Tuesday, she was asked if consideration had been given to plans that did not include Mead.

But featuring at the World Cup remains a target for the 27-year-old.

Brentford sign Hickey from Bologna for club-record fee

Brentford have signed Scotland international full-back Aaron Hickey from Bologna for a reported club-record fee in the region of £14million (€16.6m).

The 20-year-old s arrival on a four-year deal, which also includes a series of add-ons, was officially confirmed by Brentford on Saturday.

Hickey spent two years in Serie A with Bologna after arriving from Scottish side Hearts and played 48 times in all competitions, 36 of those appearances coming last season.

He scored five goals and assisted one more in the Italian top flight last term and his form was rewarded with the first of four caps for the Scotland national side in March.

Among Serie A defenders in the 2021-22 season, only Domenico Criscito (six) and Nahuel Molina (seven) of Genoa and Udinese re…
