West Brom have confirmed they are to open contract talks with head coach Steve Clarke in the new year.

Clarke was appointed in June 2012 after Roy Hodgson departed to take charge of England, and led West Brom to eighth in the Premier League last season.

De Gea, 28, was set to be out of contract at the end of the 2019-20 season but has instead signed to stay at United for at least another four years.

United States winger Joe Gyau will miss the remainder of 2014 due to a knee injury, national coach Jurgen Klinsmann confirmed.

Gyau collected his second international cap against Ecuador on Friday, but hobbled off with a suspected sprained left knee.

The Borussia Dortmund midfielder initially told reporters the injury was not serious following the 1-1 draw in Connecticut, but Klinsmann revealed the 22-year-old will undergo surgery.
